Share a sweet, but stay 6 feet!

I had been feeling the desire to bake. Maybe because it brings comfort, maybe I needed a distraction, or maybe I just wanted some chocolate. I asked Patrick if it would be weird to set up some treat tables in the middle of the street and invite the neighbors. We could gather but maintain our distance. He thought they would love it.

So we baked, because some things just require cake!

We made yellow cupcakes because you need a vehicle for cream cheese frosting & sprinkles.

We made chocolate cupcakes with fudge icing because “chocolate understands”.

We had marshmallows so made Rice Krispie treats. We scooped them into muffin papers and pressed in some sprinkles. We had brownies in the freezer (remember the February blog?) and put them in muffin papers.

The goal was 6 feet apart and no bare hand contact.

The deeper I got into my project, the fancier I wanted to make it. I pulled out the cake stands, the fun napkins, and the place cards.

As I was putting it all together I wondered how we could do something similar for our senior living residents. They are lonely, possibly scared, and craving interaction. I imagine a surprise knock on the door with an afternoon treat would make their day!

Senior Living Ideas

Drape a tablecloth over a cart and find some fancy platters.

Make some treats, scrounge for extras in the freezer, or order some in.

You can also put ice cream on ice and grab some toppings.

Fill bags of popcorn and make some punch.

Play music as you go through the building like an ice cream truck.

Hit the halls, knock on doors, and take orders.

Share a treat, and a smile, and I’m sure you will get one back!

Patrick was right, the neighbors came and we all enjoyed it, because staying at home doesn't mean we're not here for each other. Share a sweet, but stay 6 feet!
